As tough as the mountains themselves, and with memories that last almost as long, many dwarves carve their homes from the very bones of the earth. Forgers of the finest works of steel and gold, they are as mighty as they are determined. Should you try to take that which is theirs, you will face the full vengeance of the Dwarven Holds!
Though the Dwarven Empire fell at the end of the Golden Age, the Holds still control the most lucrative mines of Vetia, producing the finest armours and (…)

Sylvan Elves
Some argue they represent the oldest and truest of the Elven civilisations, closest to the primordial Fae. Their fate is entwined with the forests they call home, and the spirits dwelling within, both nurtured by and allied to the Elves beneath the canopy. Those same spirits are murderous when roused, and Sylvan archery is feared across the earth.
Since the withdrawal of the Highborn across the seas, they are what remains of the Elves in Vetia, occupying the forests of our great continent. (…) -
The Ancient Ones
Most archaic and least understood of all the Elder Races, many believe the Saurians built sophisticated civilisations when the Elves were still wearing animal fur. The oldest works I possess name these enigmatic jungle dwellers as Venerable Ones. It is rumoured theirs was a cold, cruel reign, and the younger races looked upon them as tyrants.
The time of the Saurians and the Dawn Age ended when they were cast down by Elves and Dwarves, or else swallowed by the sea in some cataclysm of that (…) -
The Demise of the Duke of Gasconne
King Louis: My dear Cantemont, how glad I am to see you well. But where is our Commander, the Duke of Gasconne? Is he still in the field? Cantemont: Sad news, my liege. Gasconne is slain. L: By the Lady, our nation is so much the poorer for his loss. What news from the Crusade? Is the traitor deposed? C: My duty lies heavy upon me. But I will endeavour to be direct. 4,000 knights followed us to Avras. Fewer than 400 return with me. And many of them are decidedly the worse for wear. L: (…)

The Fate of a Son
The Highborn do not often speak to humans on such matters, seeing us unworthy of intelligent conversation. But I was moved by the plight of your son and I pushed my contacts in Aldan as hard as I could for information. I must be blunt, it appears that if he has been taken by the Dread Elves his fate can only be enslavement. There are two most likely outcomes. First he may be put to work in the docks servicing the mighty fleet of Daeb privateers , operated by citizen traders solely for (…)

The Forest Court
The King and Queen barely move for much of the year, nor do they often speak. Their will is the will of the forest, their programmes art the seasons and their laws - the laws of nature. Tis a thing unique unto this world: supernal beings that ruleth over mortals. In Wyscan’s heart does there lie some fey source of th’eternal power of the Realm Beyond; the which sustaineth them while they art near. And yet sometimes they depart: the King on great hunts, to claim his trophies mighty, and the (…)

The Intelligence of the Herd
Q: How intelligent are the Beast Herds? Are they purely driven by primal instincts or is there a grander plan for their herds? Are minotaurs just big wildhorns, or do they have their own tribes and agendas?
A: In the current day, the herds are found on every continent, and contest those lands with their other inhabitants. The herds are diverse in culture and appearance across the world. Of the two general types of herds, the warherds are led by bestial chieftains. They are autocratic but (…) -
The Kraken’s Logbook
The Gaze of the Kraken’s Logbook. 28th of Bomudh, 2682 DD A dozen leagues from the West Coast of Vetia
We left Caen Dracin two weeks ago. The ship’s company is in a good mood after the past days’ trials. When the storm came, we faced it with the iron temper of our people. The slaves revolted under the cover of the tempest, seeing a chance in the turmoil of the seas. We shattered the revolt quickly and ruthlessly, avoiding the loss of slaves when possible. It was unavoidable at times. The (…) -
The Lady and Sunna
Ask not a noble of the Kingdom if Sunna is the same ‘Lady’ that the Kingdom of Equitaine wor-ship!, lest your head be parted from your shoulders!” was the Sage’s reply to one of my questions. Equitaine and Sonnstahl are two neighbouring nations, yet very much distinct. One is a Kingdom, led by Henry the Young. While his father might have let such an insult pass, the son is a very different prospect. He has reignited the Equitan urge to quest the world in the name of their Lady. The other is (…)

The Nature of Forest Spirits
Herr Gottlieb:
Gentlemen, there is no longer any doubt that the so-called Tree Spirits are real creatures. Accounts of their activities are too numerous to deny. It falls to our esteemed company today to determine what nature of beast they are. I believe them to be kin to the woodland elves, the child-stealers and guardians of Wyscan. I have heard that the faerie folk themselves hold the living trees to be their own ancestors. I propose these “spirits” are little more than the most ancient (…)
