A nation founded upon the exploits of Sunna, goddess given flesh, our ally has developed far from its early days. The tribes Sunna unified have endured together, never forgetting her memory and glory, symbolised by her eponymous sword Sonnstahl. The core of human supremacy in Vetia, with Destrian wealth now united through marriage with its grand armies and economy, there is no limit to the Empire’s ambition. But, to command such a diverse nation, an Emperor must not simply conquer in battle, (...)

Atua and the Origins of the Saurians
Much of our scant knowledge of the Saurians comes indirectly from the human nations who live in closer proximity to their enclaves. While attempts to communicate directly with the minds of their corpulent, allegedly mind-reading mages typically ends in even greater confusion or madness, there are some who over the centuries have discerned more useful information. Of particular interest is the account of the natives of the southern Sunrise Sea archipelagos, who speak of a mighty, but (...)

Dwarfs in the North
It is said there are dwarves in the north. High in the Jotun peaks where the Åsklanders roam. Their holds are hidden by ancient runes and sealed in their mountain strongholds. Closed off from the rest of the world, they amass wealth and craft fantastic artifacts. One of the most interesting stories I heard was of a lost hold. A group of enterprising dwarves set out from their mountain home in search of a trade route between the Jotun Mountains and Avras. The trip took many years, and when (...)

Dwarfs in Vetia / The White Mountains
Vetia is the land of mankind, where nations of men have reigned for years under the protective sight of the Goddess and her church. There, the powerful nation of Sonnstahl guards all mankind against the dangers of the Wasteland, while to the south the merchant cities of Arcalea ply their trade with the whole of the world. There you will also find the White Mountains, impenetrable hold of the (...)

Ogres and the Trade Routes East
The Steel Road is an endeavour of titanic proportions, and it is believed to have been prompted by centuries of bitter clashes between ogre caravans crossing the Blasted Plain and Infernal legions seeking to secure trade routes. However, the dwarves of that region have ever been secretive with their intentions, and who can say if their true purpose is so simple. After all, Infernal ambitions have changed the world once before.
Where is the domain of the Ogre Khans? Can they be found in (...) -
On Orcs, Goblins and Cities
Greetings unto thee, oh learned Sage. I wish to know, have Orcs and Goblins ever built cities?
Although we civilized peoples might not recognize them as such, goblins at least construct a collection of edifices that one might name a city. Orcs on the other hand, are universally nomadic, and do not, therefore, tend to erect long-term settlements. Lacking both the technology and the inclination to create lasting infrastructure, orcs construct camps that are temporary – easily erected and (...) -
Restrictions of Movement on Celeda Ablan and the Pearl Harbour
Do the HE allow humans or other humanoids to enter their island?
I believe i have referred in the past to opportunities to consult texts at one of the great elven universities on Celeda Ablan. It was one of the finer moments of my academic career, but it was not without risk. Humans, and any other outsider, who visit the elven cities on Celeda Ablan take their life in their own hands.
Provided you are wise, listen to your minders, and don’t stray beyond the permitted spaces, you should (...) -
Sylvan Elves
Some argue they represent the oldest and truest of the Elven civilisations, closest to the primordial Fae. Their fate is entwined with the forests they call home, and the spirits dwelling within, both nurtured by and allied to the Elves beneath the canopy. Those same spirits are murderous when roused, and Sylvan archery is feared across the earth.
Since the withdrawal of the Highborn across the seas, they are what remains of the Elves in Vetia, occupying the forests of our great continent. (...) -
The Arandai Empire
The Arandai Empire is not what it once was, but it remains exceptionally potent, with awe-inspiring naval power. Its territories on every continent are growing, along with control of maritime trade. Colonies garrisoned by the Pearl Throne include the icy northern citadel of Nedarac, where precious Phoenix eggs are found; the strategic stronghold of Gan Dareb, in the Middle Sea; and Celed Ryman, a fortress monastery scarred by pursuit of magical knowledge in the southern part of the Great (...)

The Fate of a Son
The Highborn do not often speak to humans on such matters, seeing us unworthy of intelligent conversation. But I was moved by the plight of your son and I pushed my contacts in Aldan as hard as I could for information. I must be blunt, it appears that if he has been taken by the Dread Elves his fate can only be enslavement. There are two most likely outcomes. First he may be put to work in the docks servicing the mighty fleet of Daeb privateers , operated by citizen traders solely for (...)
